Philip Brotherton
Affectionately nicknamed “Titch”, Phillip has had extensive experience in the security industry. This experience spans four decades and began with his service to the military. When asked to describe his personal values which overlap strongly in the day to day running of Ipeleng, the key factors are 'honesty and integrity' coupled with an open-door policy for both employees and clientele. Titch is a well-known figure in the security industry and is held in high regard. He is a strong believer in the potential of the country and its people.
Ryan Brotherton
Prior to joining Ipeleng, Ryan similarly gained practical knowledge and experience of the industry through serving 6 years in the Elite Forces as part of the British Army – an achievement only reached by a few in the world. By being exposed to the art of modern warfare, completing 3 tours of duty, and awarded 4 campaign medals Ryan is well equipped to provide Close Protection Services as well as train industry professionals. Ryan's duty entails directing of the operations, training, guarding and administration. Ryan is a true professional, and in essence epitomises the word "Dedicated" when it comes to planning, operating, and managing the company and its clients. Ryan personally deals with all clients and provides a mentor environment to all his students which is a true reflection of his passion for the industry.
Barend Steenkamp
Barend is a valuable part of the team who is well versed in the field of Quality Management Systems, Health, Safety, and Environmental practices. He has gained a wealth of valuable experience in the transport sector having spent a decade with a large transport company where risk management was the key pillar to success. Barend understands that discipline, dedication, and perseverance are the cornerstones to a successful and profitable business and, having completed his military training in the SADF, provides valuable insight to the company and the industry. Being an affiliate of SAIOSH, he is proficient in: - Health, safety and environmental management (Samtrac), Internal auditing (Nosa), Internal Quality Management System implementation (QMS), Risk Management and assessment, technical quality assessment, and productivity management.
Mike Procopiou
Mike joined the Ipeleng team in 2015 and he too has a background in the military. Mike is well versed in the art of Close Protection through his experience of being an operative Close Protection Officer in the field for at least 20 years. He has international experience related to the industry and, as a result, has gained extensive European training as a Close Protection Operator and Instructor. Mike was the Director of Advanced Security Training in Cyprus and worked closely with the European Security Academy in Poland. For Mike, teaching is a passion, not a job, which is why he believes in quality and sound training methods. Mike believes that "one of the greatest gifts a man can give, is to pass on his knowledge to someone who could further their life skills”.
